Railfanning Cajon Pass on 12-28-10 Part 3 HD Add Video

Watch in High Definition! I decided to take advantage to a mid-week opportunity to go to Cajon Pass over my winter break hoping to catch weekday freights. I was rewarded with a great day; filming 14 freights over a 5 and 1/2 hour period. We started out by quickly stopping at Cajon Station to catch a freight that we saw while we were driving up the 15 freeway. We then raced up to Hill 582, the popular railfanning hotspot just missing a chance to see the first freight a second time. Once we arrived and set up, we were treated to near constant traffic and never went more than 45 minutes without seeing a train. I also got to see a BNSF C44-9W leading!

Train 1: Westbound (Southbound) BNSF M-BARSDG1-28 DAYGO Manifest desends track 2. Led by BNSF ES44DC 7769. Trailing is BNSF SD39-2 1887 and BNSF ES44DCs 7777, 7713, and 7717. BNSF ES44DCs 7749 and 7767 serve as DPU.

Train 2: The Eastbound BNSF Empty Ethanol Trail ascends track 1. Led by BNSF ES44DC 7729. Trailing are BNSF ES44DCs 7764 and 7756.

Train 3: A Westbound BNSF Intermodal Train descends track 2. Led by BNSF ES44DC 7582. Trailing is BNSF ES44DC 7869, BNSF ES44C4 6637 and BNSF ES44DC 7878.

Train 4: An Eastbound UP Empty Coal Train ascends track 1 and stops at summit. Led by UP SD70M 4568 with a burnt out ditch light. Trailing is UP SD70M 4561 and UP ES44AC 7880.

Train 5: A Westbound BNSF Intermodal Train runs around the UP train and descends Track 3. Led by BNSF ES44DC 7424. Trailing is BNSF C44-9W 5112 and BNSF ES44DC 7340.

This is part 3 of 3.

If you're going to Cajon Pass, be sure to visit hill 582!
