G'day. I live in Australia's island but second oldest State , Tasmania. I'm a mad keen U.S. rail fan and modeller nowadays.. I live in a former railway cottage built in 1886 when the Fingal Valley Branch Line came into being.. I've lived in this house since 1974.. My dad was the track maintenance ganger for many years in charge of 23 miles (37 kilometres) section..and bridges.. I'm 52 , single , two border collies , love all sports and work at our local High School , including looking after a 25 metre pool facility.
My real passion is modelling HO rail and am currently building a non prototypical BNSF layout. and dare I say little bit of UP here and there.. Our own rail company Tasrail is currently re inventing itself somewhat. As there are only 550,000 Taswegians , Tasrail has no direct competition from other rail operators but road transport companies have been hard to stop. They've just commissioned 17 new locomotives and are spending heaps on track upgrades again after decades of neglect.. I also try to shoot rail video when i get the chance..
BNSF is truly a great rail company in perhaps the most competitive market in the world and I'd love to join a group with a passion for the company. One day I want to get to the US and see some BNSF trains in real life.
